Deer Power Animal Symbol Of Gentleness Unconditional Love And Kindness

By Ina Woolcott

Deer’s medicine includes gentleness in word, thought and touch. The ability to listen, grace and appreciation for the beauty of balance. Understanding of what’s necessary for survival, power of gratitude and giving, ability to sacrifice for the higher good, connection to the woodland goddess, alternative paths to a goal.

In the Celtic tradition, there are two aspects of deer – female and male. The Hind (the red female deer), called Eilid in the Gaelic language, symbolises femininity, subtlety and gracefulness. The Hind is believed to call to us from the Faery realm, tempting us to release the material trappings of so-called ‘civilization’, to go deep into the forest of magic, to explore our own magical and spiritual nature. The topic gentleness is part of this tradition. Many stories tell of Hinds changing into women, often goddesses, to protect does from being hunted. The lesson to be gleaned here is that when we explore magic and spirituality, it must be with good intention, to harm no living being, but to enter the realm of the wild things in the spirit of love and communion. The Stag, Damh in the Gaelic tongue, is also linked to the sacredness of the magical forest. The Damh represents independence, purification, and pride. It is known as the King of the Forest, the protector of its creatures. For time immemorial people have sought to identify with the stag by ceremonially wearing antlered headdresses and imitating the deer’s leaping grace.

Both Celtic and Native American hunters prayed to the deer to give them a good hunt, and in return promised to take no more than was essential for the survival of the tribe. This helps remind us that our spirit of gentleness and unconditional love should extend to all species, not only our own.

Maybe the most effective way to summarize the lessons of these beliefs, is to say that only when we move through life in the spirit of love for all beings can we melt the barriers that separate us from others, from other life forms, and from the beautiful mystery which is our own magical and spiritual gift.

By observing the ways in which deer behave, it is possible to see what amazing qualities – or powers – they possess. From the deer we can learn that the gift of gentleness and caring can help us overcome and put aside many testing situations. Only love, both for ourselves and for others, helps us understand the true meaning of wholeness.

If a deer crosses your path, this may show you that you are a very compassionate, gentle and loving person. If you don’t have these qualities, then consider if you have a problem that needs addressing. Are you facing a challenge in your life, whether with a fellow human being or a delicate situation? If you are feeling negative emotions such as anger, try letting go. Think about whether a gentler and more loving approach can sort the issue out. It may be necessary to speak the truth, this is best done with kindness and from the heart, this will generally give a better result.

Deer teaches us how powerful it is to be of gentle demeanour, to exert keen observation and sensitivity. Deer’s are in tune with nature and all it comprises. They are sacred carriers of peace and show those with this power animal how to open their hearts and love unconditionally.

Frequently twins or even triplets are born in the spring. Females and males reside in separate groups until the mating season. White-tailed deer are rather sociable, and family members forage food together along with other family groups, which gives the appearance of a large herd. Fawns are born a colour that protects them, camouflaging them from a predator’s sight. In the first few days of their life they hardly move, until their energy field is strong and grounded. They then stand up and begin to follow their mother around. A magical sight to behold is fawns coming out of forests, following their tenderly protective mothers. Even when grazing, the mothers are constantly watchful, fully aware and alert of what is going on all around them. They travel through forest and field with deliberateness and clarity, mindful of the fragile creature they nurture and protect. There is a powerful lesson to be learned here by us. Though we are born with an inborn ability to be unconditionally loving, often we are born to parents whose life experiences have taught them to become hard, and to lose that ability to experience and give unconditional love. Watching the deer and her babies is a reminder to honour and respect the child-like innocence within your self and go about your life with gentleness and an open heart. You should also stand strong on your path, in your beliefs, and not allow yourself to get distracted by outside influences.

Deer has entered your life to help you walk the path of love with full consciousness and awareness, to know that love sometimes requires caring and protection, not only in how we love others, but also in how we love ourselves.

A deer’s senses are very acute and they see extremely well in low light, giving them the ability to understand the deeper symbolic meanings of things. They can hear a twig snap a very long way off. People with this power animal are often described as being swift and alert. They are intuitive, often seeming to possess well developed, even extrasensory perceptions. Sometimes their thoughts seem to race ahead, and they appear not to be listening, to be somewhere else. Anyone with power animal has latent clairvoyant and clairaudient abilities. They can see between the shadows, detect subtle movements and hear that which is not being uttered. Ask the deer to help you develop these true gifts.

The set of antlers grown by the male deer are antennae that connect it to higher energies. If you come across a deer in the wild, try to count the number of points on their antlers. This number is associated with numerology and can carry great significance for those with this power animal.

Deer teaches us to be gentle, to touch the hearts and minds of wounded beings who are in our lives. Don’t push people to change, rather gently nudge them in right direction, with the love that comes from deer. Love and accept people as they are. The balance of true power lays in love and compassion.

When a Deer totem enters your world, a new innocence and freshness in about to be awakened. New adventures are just around the corner and there will be an opportunity to express the gentle love that will open new doors for you.

  1. I have been seeing a few deer this summer and has become a part of my daily routine as I find myself looking for them as they live near my house along a green belt, an area that I frequently walk and run. I consistently see 2 males with 7 points with the fur on them, until one day they were gone. I thought my messengers have delivered their message and have left me, cool. Then I started seeing them again only this time it was 2 young ones dancing and playing about, as usual I greet them as they appear within 1o’ of me, we talk for a minute then they leave. Today I followed them to meet the father awaiting their return, I greeted him and thanked him for his gift as they left into the wooded area. This has reminded me to be acutely aware of the life around me and to approach it with gentle, kind, and with love in my steps. I am a massage therapist and have gifts of ESP in many ways and found this to be most rewarding in my journey of Life, Love and Shamanism. I hope this article helps you to see that life presents us with magical creatures for a heavenly message. They may not be deer, but they ARE around us at all times giving a gently nudge in the right direction and messages from the heavens.

    1. What do you feel it means seeing one set of deer tracks in the snow leading away from a newer grave site? He was a hunter and fisherman. Had been unable to hunt for 15 months. Is that a sign from him or are the tracks the sign from the deer only

      1. Well can u tell me when u see a drown deer in ur yard all the time and I can feed him and he never run

    2. I was just looking in my cameras and notice 3 deers walking around my front yard I’ve been living here with my son and fiance for 4 months but have never seen 1 around what does this mean

    3. I also forgot to mention that when I saw the 3 deers I kind of got scare since the time was 330am and they usually say that is not a positive /good time for things to happen?

  2. Hi can anyone help me please for years I have been looking for answers for why I was visited by a stag every night as a child I would hear it come along walk in my room now down and leave, as a child was something calming about it but as a adult I fear the unknown thank you

    1. From my understanding of what I have personally read about, and depending on you own beliefs and traditions, that is most likely your Totem animal or spirit guide showing itself. I had a reoccurring dream involving a Coyote trying to reach me, when I was a child.

The best way to find out is to research more on the stag and it’s behavior and see if it inspires you or soothes you. Then you can ask for assistance from your guides from time to time, they are there to help in their own way.

  3. Thank you, now all the work I’ve done this weekend makes more sense. My deer turned into a hopping white rabbit that wanted to show me something, my black self going happily away, nontheless my ego wanted to resits but there was the lesson of the deer, “let go, you know that it is time to release, I love you, don’t be afraid, you know that the time has come”.

    1. It was wonderful to read your comment Jessica.
I am a 53 yr old man who for various reasons and at various times has had a turbulent life that has quite frankly exhausted me. I am now in a period of rest and rehabilitation. Last night I dreamt of a doe who approached me from the forest. I was wary of this wild animal. Even so she was insistent and would not be denied my attention.
‘Let go, it’s time to release.’ – yes, this comment resonates with me greatly. Now I must learn to let go and let the Universal Spirit become my guide.
      Many thanks!

  4. My girlfriend and I have been driving down the road 2 different times, and a herd of 2 fawns and their babies have darted out in front of our truck. What does that mean? Please

    1. Its 2:30 am.and woke up to the noice of my neighbors walking above me,I went outside to have a cigarette and I live in a very busy city,I looked up and seen a deer walking down the center of my road, walking toward me.I just moved to this city,I’m a country girl and miss the quietness and peace of home.this deer seen me and kept walking down the middle of this busy street. There is no cars or people around at this early in the morning….could this be a message..I’m always wondering about these signs.i lost my dog a couple years ago who was my bestfriend and I still struggle from it. Thanks for any comments..

  5. I was driving to work this morning, a crisp 20 degrees with a light snow falling from the sky and five deer crossed the road in front of me. Driving through town, so my speed was low, I stopped as the first one passed, from my right to my left. Then, a couple seconds later, the second deer crossed; three, four, and five. I waited because I felt there was one more, but nothing. Slowly I started moving forward and as I passed the bush the obstructed my view, I looked to the right and there was number six. He crossed after I passed.
So I’m curious for an interpretation.

    1. Research the significance of the number 5 and marry that with all you can learn about deer symbolism.

  6. My husband died suddenly a few weeks ago and soon after a doe showed up by the bird feeders just looking at our house. I have seem her often now hanging out close to the feeders
I bought lots of deer food today. There has never been deer spotted around here before. I love deer and fill a closeness and total love for them and all animals. I want to protect her

    1. Hi Kathryn, first, I’d like to say I’m very sorry for the sudden loss of your husband. I too am a widow. Second, in response to seeing a doe, staring at your house. In my opinion is a gift from nature, via your husband. I believe that he has asked Mother nature to provide, gentlness, unconditional love and innocence for you. This beautiful doe stepped up to the call. What a sweet blessing for all involved. When my husband passed, he sent a butterfly to represent him, at his memorial service. It flew around the entire group of people during the entire ceremony and gathering. When my children and I were leaving to the car, it flew alongside us and circled the car as we were getting in. Then it flew away, as we left. We all knew it was my husband. It was such a sweet and gentle blessing. I encourage you to continue to acknowledge nature’s gifts, as they will increase in time, guide and bless you on your new journey. Much love and blessings being sent to you in your hour of sadness and grief. My heart is with you. Peace, Namaste.

      1. my husband aunt died before her death her daughter ask her to let her know everything is ok that’s when her mother held her hand tight and smiled the biggest smile and then she passed and a deer walked up and looked in the window. The family that was their said that it was the most beautiful moment they had every experienced.

      2. A word of caution about feeding deer. PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE DEER. The can be killed by eating bird food and stuff humans put outside thinking they are helping. Bird food/seed puts a deer through a torturous death.
We just had an 8 point sag die on our property because neighbors had been putting out bird seed and ‘deer food’. These folks had been warned not to do it by Wildlife Control Officers, yet they continued to do it.
I have never had my heart more broken than seeing this magnificent sag drop over dead from consuming seed/deer food. I’ve cried at his loss for days now.

  7. I saw two deer yesterday. Our train was going by them and the young one, when she heard the train, she ran away. The older one, the mother, stood her ground, waiting for her baby to realize on its own to come back. Leaving but staying. Changing. Returning. All things are deer medicine.

  8. I was driving to pick up my three young children (age 4) from summer camp. I saw a fawn sitting by the side of the road. Then I look further up and saw the mother deer (white) several feet away. I pulled the van over and came to a stop. They looking at me, and me looking at them for about 4 min. The fawn started to get up to come to me, so I quickly drove away…I did not want her to venture on the road. One week later I saw a baby fawn had been hit by a car on an adjacent road, then yesterday, I saw a female deer hit by a car (near where I saw the two originally). It has made me very sad, and I cannot get it out of my mind. I have gone back to see if there is still another fawn there, I know that they are usually born as twins, but have not found anything there. I cannot help but feel there is a message in this for me?

  9. I have always had a fear almost of deer… Of hitting one… Over the past four years, I live on the outskirts of town by th way, I have had deer in my front yard, walking down the streets… Never alarmed me thought it was beautiful. On June 19, I actually hit a doe who was walking back to th side of the interstate to save her baby… I had seen this accident coming weeks before… But in my vision I was going to be hit by something big… A semi maybe and I wasn’t going to make it. I have three beautiful children one who just turned 7 months at the time. I saw the poor deer and there was nothing I could do… I got out of the vehicle as I had just passed two semi truck prior to hitting her… I was perfectly aligned on the side of the road. Sheriff said I was lucky to be alive… They never saw the deer..: a few weeks later… I saw a doe peek her head out of th cornfields.. It was early in the evening so it was strange to me… I locked eyes with her and felt this calming yet strange feeling come across as if it were the same doe telling me “you are here for your babies”… Meaning!? Has anyone ever had an accident with their totem animal?! I felt terrible and I’m still a bit timid… But feel I’m spiritually protected all in the same!!

    1. I recently lost my husband, and my life has totally changed…my family is dispersed in different directions, and because of my job, i am left alone, totally isolated from my children and grandchildren. My soon to be daughter-in-law introduced me to this website, and already it is Blessing me to read comments and the information about the symbolism of the deer. In June of 2014, i also hit a deer…prior to hitting it, i felt the holy spirit tell me to slow down…it damaged my car, but my emotions more…i could somehow feel the presence of my late husband, and i was so sorrowful about the deer, it was a young deer….as i read i realize that i too have the spirit of the deer….loving, nurturing, compassion, protector, gentleness….i am starting to understand my true nature, thanks to this website….i use to apologize for the unconditional love i carry, but i now realize that it is not weakness but strength, and above all else a gift from God….thank all of you for your comments and most of all i thank my Angel, Alie, for sharing this with me….it is my season!!!!

  10. This l makes a lot of sense. When I was in high school, I had a very rough time. One day i was particularly stressed and looking for something in the back of my car before I went to school. It was cold, but I hadn’t seen, heard, or noticed a thing (consciously) but I stood up and to my right, behind the raised back door, (kind of like finding somebody behind the fridge door) was a female. Not two feet away from me. Eyes at my level (I’m nearly 6 feet). She just stood there and stared. No fear. Just looking, and her eyes looked so calm, inquisitive, but calm. I went into my car to grab my camera and she was gone, again without any indication to the 5 globally acknowledged senses.

Now it makes perfect sense why she was there. She was a gift.

Deer tend to do that with me in general; just look. I’ve joked that they can sense I’m not a carnivore, but they probably just are there for a reason.

I’m a highly intuitive, sensitive empath and sometimes I get the impulse to be in a certain place at a certain time and somebody I know almost always shows up. And they ave something very specific to share or that they need me to share. I always wonder with totem animals if they know they are there and why, or if, like these deer, they just look up like I do when I notice my friends, and think “Are you why I’m here?” or “Oh, that’s why I came here.”

  11. I live in the Rocky Mountains of CO and nearly every day when I drive my daughter down the mountain to and from day care we look for baby deer and say “oh, baby deeeeeeer”.

This evening we had done exactly that and less than a minute later a fawn darted out from the brush and we hit it. The baby deer screamed and died nearly instantly.

When I got out to survey the scene I could hear the mother in the gully below. The whole thing made me so, so sad.

It is good to read this and gain some perspective as I too a an empath. I also tried to remember what I thinking of directly before the accident. I was trying to come to grips with my own fear of death as I have a trip to Seattle this weekend and have a phobia of flying.

Bless the baby fawn who lost her life unexpectedly on Crawford Gulch Road. Bless her mother. Bless my daughter. Bless all grappling with fear. Deer medicine is strong.

  12. A beautiful fawn ran out in front of my car yesterday morning as I returned from a night shift (Ambulance Sevice ).I was traveling only about 30 mph admiring the majesty of a ‘red sky sunrise and looking slightly towards the right where ‘Fawn’ emerged from. My reactions ,though excellent, were not enough to avoid a collision and it only seemed minor , Fawn skidded like Bambi on the ice briefly before rolling over once and lying upright at the side of this country lane. I went to her side . Not a mark on her except a smear of blood from a small praise. She was disoriented so I stroked and used calming speech to reassure her. She was beautiful and as I stroked her she relaxed. Suddenly she attempted to get up. Her tireless strong but her hind legs unable to respond. My heart sank and I gently felt along her entire spine and limbs for signs of fractured bones. None obvious so I carefully picked her up and put her on the grass embankment in the wonderful sunrise and stroked and spoke to her willing her to recover. She took a few big gulps of air curled her head around to her right flank as if about to sleep …… then died as I stroked her head. I laid her gently on her side and wished her a heartfelt farewell return to The Great Spirit. Then covered her body in long gasses leaving her beautiful face to bask in the radiant sunshine . I bade her farewell and left Fawn to go home.
A long story from which I feel is a significant message and medicine from Fawn to me. Any insights would be gratefully received. Thank you Fawn.

  13. A couple of nights a ago I woke up in the drak and saw a man with a deer head and his antlers were like large tree branches and I didn’t know what to do so I just stared at it and then it kinda disappeared . I don’t know what to do its been on my mind ever since please help me .

    1. My son had this happen to him the other night. But the deer head spirit tapped him on the shoulder, then ran away through a wall and into a closet.

  14. Today I was walking my dog in the nearby woods that runs along a sometimes busy road. I knew she saw something but I called her back and we continued walking another minute when I heard a huge “thug” crash and cars coming to screeching halts. I could see through the woods the cars stopping. I knew it had to be a deer. I tried to call the police but my phone didn’t work. A couple came down the path and I shared I wanted to call for the police. The woman told me not to worry that the folks on the street would call. I stopped and asked myself what else can I do to help. My hands by my side turned so my palms faced the direction of the accident. My hands became hot and I felt energy coming from them to the deer. My mind was asking how do I know it is a deer that was hit? Why am I doing this? It felt right to be sending this energy to the deer than to the people and then back to the deer. Saying all is ok, it is going to be fine, thanking God for giving me these moments to be connected to the deer was joyful. Then my hands stopping giving energy like a switch. My thought was the deer had passed. I didn’t believe what had happened. On my way out of the parking lot a few minutes later I passed the scene and there were several cars on the side of the road and a beautiful dead deer in front of one of them. I am feeling very emotional. I googled and found this essay by Ina Woolcott. It really has helped me to better understand what happened. Thank you.

  15. I recently went to a gathering where we performed a power animal meditation. During the mediation a basket was brought around and we were asked to feel the energy of what called to us and choose a small string drawn pouch. I chose the deer and the deer chose me. My ex was there and it was one of the few times we had seen each other since our break up. I feel the deer came to me to help me realize all the goodness that is truly in me and to help me realize that I am whole on my own. Since reading this I have seen this connection with deer manifest ever so clearly. God truly speaks to us in so many different ways, we just have to open our hearts to his message of love that comes in divers ways. I am learning that true power lies in unconditional love. I strive follow my savior who is Christ the lord. His love pours upon the souls of men and women like sunlight upon the Earth.

  16. Hi! Your advice please! One night me and my partner were out as usual on our pogo sticks practising down the hill, and my partner Katya was suddenly without warning thrown from her pogo violently by a small but powerful doe. But then I realised, as it leaped off into the distance, it was not in fact a doe – it clearly had a single horn in the crown of it’s head – a unicorn! Katya was perfectly ok – in fact, it has had a profound effect on her – please can somebody relate to or explain this remarkable and unique experience which has changed our lives?

  17. One night I was taking dogs out walking down the street I looked up and 3 Deer’s were standing there and looking at us, the one in the middle with long beautiful horns bend down on one leg bow to me! What does that mean?

  18. I have a very strange experience as of current which hopefully someone else can give some insight. I have 6 piles of deer pellets in my backyard; always liked deer but have not seen them in awhile but they do eat the bushes. Are they trying to tell me something, more than the obvious one of “getting the crap out of my life and starting anew”? My mom went downhill late last year with diverticulitis and mild dementia with cognitive disfunction. I’m wondering if the number 6 is minus 1 from my family; myself being the youngest of 5 older brothers. I was extremely close to her.

  19. Walking along a busy road way with my daughter and great nephew(1), I noticed a small white ball in the overgrowth on the opposite side of the road sac I studied this I realised it was a stag young with antlers the area was so overgrown I was surprised I even noticed it, he was aware of us I’m sure and would turn and look back at us as if to co firm that I wasn’t seeing things. Please advice. Lost a loved one 7 month ago and my heart is breaking.

  20. I recently visited a church with a stained glass window showing what looks like a “doe” or small “deer “.

What, if any, is the Christian symbolism?

  21. I have been having several dreams of sheeps that are dying or being hurt or bullied by other animals. It’s always my fault in my dreams. I either forgot to feed them or didn’t watch over them. Then a female deer is there alive but has no eyes??? If anyone could help me i would much appreciate it.

  22. My dad and I are in turmoil. Not only that the house I’ve fallen in love with is in the middle of old woods has a bad mold outbreak. I have some life changes I need to make personally. My dads been forcing his hand and trying to send my son and I far away to someplace he thinks will fix me be late and just all the things I’m working on personally. I kno it hurts my dad I am an artist not a sale rep and making big dollars I am still getting a BFA in fine arts for him and myself. But I was on the phn sitting on my stairs towards my back yard and was upset and saddend and talking with a panic in my voice. When I saw something moving through the bushes it was smaller I thought perhaps a coyote or stray larger dog. I quit my loud talking and the fawn walked right up to my opened gate and peered at me for a long moment I felt my body serge with energy my mom would say the Holy Ghost but it’s gaze has pierced my soul. It’s beauty. Normally I am more like the fawn. But I get what this means now. The power of this one beautiful animal has me wanting to change my approaches but my farther is very old fastioned. Thank you for writing this I only new a little of this Native American history from my grandfather who was also an artist..

  23. I hit a deer yesterday and I feel like the most horrible human being in the Universe. It was raining , I saw the deer stop on the side of the road and thought it would stay, but then ran out in front of me. I stand with the deer and try to keep my distance because my presence was dither frightening the deer. I waited with him until the State Patrol could come to end the deers suffering. I said so many sorrys, apologies and begged for the deers forgiveness. I’ve never experienced this before and try to keep a balance with the universe around me. It’s one of the worst feelings I ever fealt. I wish I never left the store and weird thing too was that I do a ritual with tobacco when I drive my car and ask for the Ameican Spirits of the past, present and future to give me safe passage for my journey and this happened maybe 10 minutes later down the road.
I’ve been trying to figure out the meaning without further beating myself up for ending this deers life.

    1. I think it more likely that Deer came to protect you from something down the road. Something that would have happened (to you) had you not struck the deer AND stayed with the animal and scrupulously done the right thing. <3

    2. I’m sorry about your experience, Jonathan. I hit a young doe tonight with my van and then a woman coming the opposite way ran her over. I’m a big animal lover and also a Reiki Master healer so I feel terrible I’ve killed an animal when my purpose here is to heal them. I’m glad she didn’t suffer long, and was grateful to the kind people who stopped and gave me hugs, for the police coming quickly, and that someone who is deserving will get the meat. I also practice Shamanism for animals so you’d think I’d know what this means, but I’m not sure yet. I hope you figured out the meaning for you, and that it bring you comfort and peace as deer is always about love and gentleness, and even in death, brings life to others.

  24. Went to walk our dog we inherited last night. FIL passed away a month ago. He wasn’t such a good man nor father. Red, our dog now, is 14 years old. Was a companion dog, never walked, always indoor dog. We started walking him daily since we brought him home. last night, was the first time I went alone to walk him. As we started, I noticed a female doe, staring at us. We usually see deer, always around the new subdivision. No big deal. Well as we kept walking on our daily route, she kept following us. I was able to take pictures of her and even video! Our dog Red was getting all excited and started barking at her and would look for her when she would gallop away into the shrubbery. I was laughing so much! I couldn’t believe this young Doe kept following us! She was even wiggling her tail and even showed her teeth to us too! It was such a weird and awesome encounter! I even started to do a fast jog with Red, to see if we’d loose her on the street route we take. She kept right up with us! At one point, she was going around us, in a circle, meeting up with us and stopping and just looking at Red and I. I would talk to her and tried to keep Red calm as he was getting very excited and barking. Didn’t want the new neighbors to think something wrong was going on with him barking like he was. I got a good work out last night, and Red did too! We turned back instead of going all the way around and the young Doe kept encircling us the entire way back 🙂 I kept started to think about my FIL towards the end of our route. I was still laughing and just enjoying the encounter, and I know Red did too. As we got closer to the more developed homes, she just galloped away back to the wooded area were we first met. I looked up the meaning of animal encounters and found this site. Thanks for sharing your experiences/encounters! I’ve gotten more insight, since last night, with y’alls help! Blessings to all and may GOD continue to shine light upon us all! <3 🙂 Ohh and tell me what y'all think about this! I'd love to hear y'alls interpretation! ~CloudyApril~ 🙂

  25. Hello everyone,I read all your comments and I am truly touched by the way this sacred Deer appears in your life.I have lost my dear mother 4 weeks ago,she was battling with cancer and 3 years was in terminal phase but God gave her the strength and stand up and be above the disease ..At beginning she was praying to God to give her only as much as she can take it and she could actually take a lot in her last few months she said God I am in your hands ,do as you wish and slowly he prepared my mom.3 weeks after her death on my birthday I prayed to God to give as s gift my mother in my dream and he sent me a male deer running, almost flying ,I saw his beautiful big and kind eyes looking at me and he was holding a big cross same as the cross Jessus was crucified..then I start to read about the spiritual meaning of deer and I was amazed and bless to have it sent to my dreams as a gift from my mom on my birthday ???Gabriela

  26. I was praying in the woods after a difficult situation with my teen boys and their father, having run into the woods with much anger/sadness/anxiety pushing me. I have been struggling with protecting the boys from their dad’s destructive permissiveness and the widening circle involved. A young male buck with perhaps 3 points jumped across the path I had just traveled, lingered a moment, disappeared into the sunshine and tall trees. Contemplating the meaning of this, if any…

  27. What does it mean if I startle a buck? I walked to my car because I couldn’t sleep and scared a buck who then stared at me for a few minutes before wandering off. Two nights ago I was also visited by an owl who was hooting. Here’s a little backstory to explain my situation: My late husband died in a tragic car accident in the same town I am visiting today. This is the town where I scared the buck. My second and current husband heard the owl before I did (who continued to whoot the entire time I was outside). Both times have been after midnight, two days apart. What does all of this mean?

    1. I don’t like Owls. Look up Owls symbolism. About 1 or 2 years before my brother passed there was a Owl hooting over our house and we didn’t live in the country.

      1. We have a church behind the house and some woods and the main road to the right. We see lots of things out there in the back. Our neighbors have apple trees so I always see deer in the yard. Especially these last two difficult years after crying or praying. I have so many photos and videos and I feel so lucky and blessed. I Also feel blessed that when I look out my window, the large cross above the church is always there to protect me. I was having a really hard time today and fought with my father. I cried my soul out and prayed about it. After praying I instantly saw angel number 111. This evening, I was talking to my friend about my feelings and it ended on a positive note. It started getting dark so I got up to close the blinds and I saw several deer walking through my backyard in the snow. Since it started getting cold and snowing I had not seen them in a few months and I was missing them.

I agree about not liking owls but also snakes and black crows. An owl has been hooting over the house a few times and I was afraid. I don’t know the meaning behind owls but I just get a bad vibe from them. About to look the meaning up shortly.

On another note, I am so touched by coming to this site and reading all the messages. So many made me cry and then I broke down crying even harder with other messages. Prayers that God brings us all peace and light. <3

  28. A deer has come to me in the dark twice in the past 5 days! Once late in the evening and once early this morning before day break. Each time the deer snorted as if speaking to me, even though I read it’s generally to message the rest of the herd. I am in auditorily sensitive person and found that even though I couldn’t see the deer and I could hear him there is a very strong message behind this. Hence I find myself here reading about the symbolism of a deer crossing my path. Many of the words above read by me resinate 100% with my personality and my Ways.

  29. Been going through some challenges in my love life. The other night I was driving home and a dear crossed my path , I stopped and it ran up the hill and it stopped , looked back at me and was standing very still. I had my window down and started signing to it . The deer stood still and I sang. My heart a bit confused but it gave me peace and I realized that eve though I was emotionally hurting , I felt peace of mind knowing that I was kind and gentle with the person I like. If they don’t appreciate my intentions than I will find someone with a dear heart that will stop And listen to me. Just like the deer had.

  30. Two years ago, summer of 2014. I went to see my mum in Canada, as she lives there with her husband. It all started the day before I was leaving home. We had dinner at my dads house. I noticed a deer stood in our garden all by herself. She was eating and she looked at me, and continued eating. She wasn’t afraid of us. Nobody cared about the deer except me and I took pictures of her. I talked about the deer afterwards and a guest told me that I had a “glance of a deer” (sorry for my bad english). So, I didn’t think more of the deer and the day after I went to Canada. In Canada I got a fever so I was staying in bed a lot the first week. I have experienced sleep paralysis a couple of times in my life and I get very afraid when it happens. One of these nights I had the worst sleep paralysis, it felt like someone was dragging me backwards as I was laying on my stomach in bed. I was so afraid but I have learned that when it happens, I have to think about trying to snap my fingers. I was thinking “snap your fingers, snap your fingers” and at last I woke up. I was so afraid and I was thinking about calling my mum so she could come down to my room. But I was to scared to reach for my phone. I decided to try to get back to sleep. I did, and I got an other paralysis again, in the same way. I felt panic. It was so intense. Suddenly as I was looking at the wall in my room (I don’t know if I was awake or if I was dreaming) a landscape was created of a meadow with a small hill and forest in the background. A deer was standing on the little hill and she/he was looking at me. From panic I went to calm and I felt that everything was okey again. I wasn’t scared anymore. I felt peace and fell asleep again. I slept all night. The morning after, I was confused. I was thinking this was so strange. But I was curious and googled about deer in dreams and I found out about spirit animals. From then I’m thinking that the deer might be my spirit animal. When I came home I was going to travel again, this time to Spain, with friends. I was flying this time to so I had to get up early. And that morning, the very same second I stood up from bed the same deer was walking right outside my window. Like she was just walking so close to my window, I took a picture of her again and then I left to go to Spain. I haven’t seen the deer again after that summer and I’m still not sure what she wanted to tell me. I would be happy to see her again but I don’t know how and to be honest, the spiritual world scares me a little bit. I just wanted to share my story of the deer.

  31. My mother passed away a year and half ago of cancer. Three weeks before she passed, a huge buck deer and I made eye contact. Surely, it was the most bizarre experience in my life, because I live in a city in New Jersey . It was 6 am and I opened my front door to water the plant outside of my house. The deer was walking up the middle of my street. It stopped in front of my house, looked at me, then continued on to my neighbors backyard. To this day, I feel it was something beyond explanation. I don’t know what the spiritual world was trying to tell me that day. Maybe it was to prepare for my mother’s passing. I was in such shock, still am quite honestly that I got to experience this amazing encounter. Any thoughts would be interesting to hear.

  32. Me and my ex broke up a couple months ago and i have prayed for god to lead his heart back to mine and i was talking to him tonight about my ex boyfriend and i had 10 or so deer walk by window and i was wondering what that meant what was he trying to tell me

  33. When I was about 3 or 4 years old, I was in a forest. I was by myself for a brief moment. A doe came to me and I pet her from her beautiful face all the was down her long neck. It makes a lot of sense after reading this. I am extremely sensitive, compassionate and loving. I have an awareness that most do not. I see, hear and smell things that most would not. This article has reminded me to come back to myself. It’s been a rough few years (or decades-lol) and this helps. Thank you. ❤

  34. Hey, in my right hand palm, there is the sign of deer’s antlers from my birth. Can anyone tell me about it please??
    What does this sign means?

  35. I have been going through some major changes over the last few weeks. I had gone to my myofasia release appointment and had my 3rd eye opened. When I cameout there was a bat on the ceiling, go home and a moth is following me around for hours. Then all these spiders that usually bother me, I picked up and released. I had a very bad bite years ago that almost killed me. Then the lots of turkey vultures, however, the most amazing site last night. It was about 12:15 last night and I was driving around a curve and saw 2 deer about the cross, so I stopped, then saw it was acually 4 adults and 1 larger fawn. We all stared at each other for about 2 mins, when another car came speeding around the curve and scared them away. I know they are trying to tell me something, but don’t know how to determine what.

  36. Last month I happened to come across several adult female deer and 4 fawns grazing. I took out my phone and began to take pictures and to my amazement, one of the fawn actually began coming towards me.

He slowly made his way closer and closer until he stopped around 15 feet away from me and just stood and grazed, as if I wasn’t even there.

I have some awesome pictures of the fawn, and the rest of the deer but in my entire life I’ve never had an encounter like that with deer, let alone a fawn.

  37. I have seen quite a big deer with white fur tail and three antelope on each side crossing my house making eye contact with me once facing and once while leaving by turning back at me . What does that will mean???
    # hoping for a reply very soon..
    ## I am very curious to know…

    1. Hello my name is Sherry. All I can say to you is enjoy everyday you can with these beautiful creatures. There’s a reason they come into your life. When you see them talk to them. No it’s not crazy and personal I don’t want people think about me when I speak with them. Where I my house is right across the field and it’s private. Deers are always around where i live. It’s taking me 2 yrs to get a relationship with these deers. It started with a mommy and her 2 Beautiful fawns. I see my deers everyday and i know what time they come around. They totally LOVE CARROTS. Well next thing I know there comes 2 more mommy’s and their fawns. Every night the bucks have been coming around. There’s 5 and they are ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. I feed them carrots and apples everyday and while tgeir eating I totally talk and they well look straight into my eyes. They well come 4 ft up to me. I know it’s a special thing to have a relationship with any beautiful wild creature. I look forward everyday to see them. I also thank them for coming to visit me. They well listen to you. I get a high that I can’t describe when I’m around them. Look up what does it mean if you cross pathe with a deer. Read it it’ll explain everything. To me it’s a specual thing if an animal picks you to visit. Good luck
      Sherry

  38. Apparently I wasn’t paying attention and instead of my spirit animal passing in front of me…she hit me. She destroyed the front panel of the car but to me that was good luck…car still runs, no major damage to mechanical parts or wheels. This was a lucky day! Apparently I have been too busy to listen. Sorry! Thank u for making me stop, breathe, and reevaluate the path I need to be on.

  39. Today I went to my small farm in a very rural area of KY. I have ducks, it was late morning and I was letting them out of their house to collect the eggs and allow them to forage. After the chores were done, fresh water given and feed replenished, I was standing with my girlfriend of almost 3 years discussing plans for the future out there, simple things like the trail work that I will soon be having done. We have a camper out there at the top of the hill that we don’t currently live in and as we were standing by our small orchard I saw a young buck emerge slowly from behind the camper. It noticed us and we were still. It slowly approached us, getting within just a foot or so of my partner. As she backed up I slowly stepped forward, and the deer stopped, then turned easily and began to forage. It ate burdock, blackberry leaves and the wilted leaves of a few small trees I have planted. The whole time it was within twenty feet of us. Eventually, realizing that it was not afraid of us I sat on a pile of wood as we gazed at it’s simple and beautiful behavior in wonderment. When it got closer again, about five feet away, I held out a hand as I sat and made a light clicking sound. It approached, smelled my hand and then licked my hands and wrists around my coat cuffs for what I seem to remember as at least ten minutes. It nuzzled me. It nibbled my jacket zipper. It let my partner pet its neck as well and licked her hand briefly, too. When she began to walk back toward the truck the deer followed, got in front of her and barely raised its front feet from the ground. As she backed up it would walk forward and try to smell her, raising its front feet just a few inches right on front of us as either of us would try to walk past. (I had gotten up to make sure my partner wasn’t worried.) It appeared to have an interest in us that kept it from wanting us to leave, though eventually I gently pushed the deer away and as it drank from our pond some 30 feet away, we did.
I am a very small scale regenerative farmer that practices the most ecologically sound land use practices that I can and am spiritually driven to be a steward of the land. I have never experienced anything like this. The deer had seven points to its rack. My “lucky” or favorite number has always been seven for as long as I can remember. This all happened today, on my birthday.
There must be some significance to this… right?

  40. I grew up in the woods and deer were always around me they even late me get close to them I still see them in the mountains when I go I dream about them as well I see red hunks all the time around me and fill safer with them and have had dreams that I see though they eyes like my spirit is inside them what does this mean are deer and Hawk my spirit guide’s

  41. They are there for both! To nourish the body soul and mind. Once a person becomes in-tuned they will know which deers are meant for either.
