An Inuit shaman talks about how he came to be born and all the taboos that his mother had to follow. He talks about his first hunting experiences and way of life. He tells of how he became a shaman, and talks about the spirits who guide him. A woman Avva, and a shark. When he lost a son and was sad, the spirits left him until he felt joy return to his life.
Also he talks about the Inuit belief system, how it shapes and effects their lives, and how all their ‘customs come from life and turn toward life”. Their greatest danger is that the animal they kill for food and clothes have souls like them. They have to satisfy them so they wont take revenge for them using their bodies.
